If you sail at Lake Isabella, find someone who stays over 'til Monday - during
the season, I try to get up there every other Monday & Tuesday.
If none of the above applies to you, and you have an Amtrak station convenient
to you, wrap your board really really well (double-bag, or bubble-wrap wrapped
by cardboard) and send it off with Amtrak to the Oxnard station. Their prices
are very reasonable, and they seem extremely careful.
Or if it is a shortboard, you may check into
Greyhound, who are even more reasonable, and have a station in Ventura,
much closer to me than the Oxnard Transit Center (oops, the Ventura
station was just razed (Apr 08) - Oxnard it is for rail & bus services,
